Acne Rosacea: Acne is a different
situation from Rosacea although they appear one and the same. Because
acne occurs in a person’s face because of the clogged skin pores and
the infections of the bacteria where as the rosacea is caused when the
blood vessels are moved below the skin's surface, causing a blotchy
red patches on the skin. These scaly blood vessels make the person to
feel uncomfortable. Thus Acne rosacea is a misleading term.
The terms associated with the acne are blackheads, whiteheads and
pimples are not associated with rosacea. But the red bumps called
papules are associated with rosacea. These are mostly solid and hard.
There size ranges from small bumps which resemble to the chicken pox
to larger, penny-shaped nodules. If Left untreated, larger nodules
will cause rhinophyma.
Ocular Rosacea: These are not most
affected type of rosacea among the population affected by these
diseases. This is one of the crucial types which mainly affect the
eyes. Here the eyelids will become inflamed and chances are there to
develop small red bumps or develop scales and crusts after a night's
sleep. The eyes will turn into bloodshot with a gritty feeling, as if
a piece of sand is present in the eye. Sensitivity to bright light is
common. Occasionally, eyelash loss occurs.
As we know that this is not a most common type of rosacea but serious
complications may develop from this condition. Because inflammation of
the cornea causes a condition called keratitis. If this condition is
left untreated, keratitis can lead to corneal damage, which can cause
impaired vision, and eventually, blindness if the corneal problems
progress unchecked.
Rhinophyma: This type of rosacea
will develop when severe rosacea is left untreated over a long period
of time. The papules will slowly increase in size. When these nodules
reach the nose, they give the nose a swollen, red appearance. This
condition is called as rhinophyma.
