Rosacea is a type of inflammatory skin
disease which usually causes redness, swelling on face and papules.
Apart from face it also affects the areas such as eyes, scalp, neck,
ears, chest and back. It first begins as a Flush or Blush and
eventually causes redness in the center of the face and continues to
affect the chin, cheeks, forehead and the nose. After this happens a
small blood vessels and pimples tend to appear on these affected
areas. If these types of conditions appear for a prolonged time then
its better to consult your dermatologist. And it is also called as the
adult acne.
Women’s are more affected by these diseases than their counterpart. It
usually affects the population having the fairer skin and between the
age group 30 – 60. This is a cyclic disease that means it will flare
up for some period of months and may lessen the signs and may again
flare up after some period of time.
And there is no cure for these diseases, but medicine may help you to
control the symptoms of it. Anybody affected by the following symptoms
are advised to meet their dermatologist as soon as possible.
• Redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead
• Small visible blood vessels on the face
• Bumps or pimples on the face
• Watery or irritated eyes
If this is left untreated there are chances of developing bumps and
pimples and in some severe cases the nose may grow swollen and bumpy
from excess tissue. This condition is called as rhinophyma.
Although this is not a life threatening diseases but it may reduce
your self esteem and may affect your appearance. And it may also cause
the psychological, social and occupational problems if left untreated.
